William Patten JMI School
We have worked with William Patten school from the start of the project. The help and support of the staff has been great and we hope that the school is gaining as much from their contribution to Safe Routes to School as we have at Groundwork Hackney and that Hackney Council will pitch in with help and support to make some of the aspirations of the school a reality

Grasmere JMI School
In April we started working with Grasmere school, Albion Road, Stoke Newington, a road noted for being busy and hazardous in the mornings when children are arriving at the school.
Working with the children, staff, parents and governors in the school an independant landscape architect working in conjunction with Theories landscape architects has conducted a consultation into possible solutions. Focusing upon improvements to the entrances to the school and to Church walk which runs behind the school and is presently not used as an access.

Sir Thomas Abney Primary school
One of the difficulties of developing and progressing a short-life, pilot project like Safe Routes to School in Hackney is that once the word gets around then things really start to take off and the phone rings off the hook just as the project is entering its final phase. Parents from Sir Thomas Abney School heard about the cycling training that was taking place in other schools and asked us to help there. We are now also working with them to improve cycle-parking and walking-links.
Off their own bat parents also wrote to the Hackney LCC about the project and they wrote it up in their newsletter |
