Week 1 Session 1 Introductions Mapping of routes to school using map of this corner of Hackney Show the number of people travelling along the same route by marking route with Tiddley winks Stickers gaming chips ( colour coded for transport mode) Draw on laminated map. Q's Group work · How do we travel to school ?· What are the good things about my journey to school ? · What makes our journey unpleasant?· What are our safety concerns? HWK: Log Time taken, nice and nasty things one weeks journey profiled. Draw own map with Key. Construct Postcode map from data Session 2 Preparatory session Look at things that could be a problem and ways of measuring these. Week 2 Session 1 Fieldwork Recording things that could be a problem, Cars Speed, Number of passengers in vehicles, type of vehicle etc. Noise pollution , Pavement width, traffic light timings. Session 2 Record data collected feed onto website. Week 3 Session 1 Recording and sharing record data collected feed onto website. Inform Dutch school with questions about their experiences. Session 2 Debate Use info collected and secondary information (Local and National) to discuss data in groups then debate for and against motor vehicle use. To develop empathy with other groups. Organisation suggestions, Business representatives, Representatives for people with mobility problems, single mums, Hauliers. Week 4 Session 1Hackney Building Exploratory visit > Gain sense of scale, development of road network and the status quo. Session 2 Investigate solutions to problems, Possible solutions 1-250 Laminated map of problem junctions put in model crossings / improvements or draw on using marker Week 5 Session 1 Opinions of other school members. Consultation towards physical improvements. interviews ( video ? ) more about transport choices road and personal safety? Grouping strategy: two topics: road safety and transport choices. Session 2 Consultation 2 Other groups. Come together and share. Possible consultation forum with members of different organisations and / or on line. Possible organisations: Road Hauliers, LCC, Cycle training, Police, Car free org. Week 6 Session 1& 2 Put ideas together and feed onto website. Postcode map of year 7 routes, pollution tables after synthesis. Present report on Safety, transport choice and suggested improvements to the school Journey. Present evidence to others in the school and externally in a variety of ways. Also on web for Borough Council.
