Daubeney Green Improvements

Back to Lesson Plan Synopsis

Back to Lesson Plan Listing

Daubeney Green sessions

The consultation for Daubeney Green to place in 1999 as a pilot for possible Safe routes to school work this comprised of a number of Geography sessions with modelling techniques and mapping techniques trailed. These led to designs for access improvements across the green.
This has only now reached a stage where works can be carried out, and planning consent has still not been granted.

As two academic years had passed since this consultation a lunch time session was devised for the gardening club. In a lunch period we went for a walk on the Green and took photos of things they found nasty or nice. Along with this a handout was produced which was not completed by any of the kids (more interested in camera equipment), setting out a map of the local area surrounded by boxes. They were to draw a line from the boxes around the map and write a description of why they liked or disliked this place.
